LOST AND FOUND

Life is like lost and found.
Early memories when I was just a young boy,
Losing my favorite truck when Goodwill comes around,
Then finding the biggest yellow Tonka in my room, my favorite toy.

I lost my first tooth when I was in first or second grade.
Mom tells me about the tooth fairy as she gently tugs it out.
I look under my pillow when my bed was about to be made.
Four shiny quarters, left by the tooth fairy, I had no doubt.

I lost my way home one day while riding my bike.
My legs grew tired, and I was near crying as it neared dark.
Then I heard the voice of my neighbor, Mike.
He and my parents had been searching for me since I left the park

I lost a little innocense when I got my first kiss.
I didn't know what to do, I wasn't near ready.
She leaned over and kissed my lips, her name was Trish.
Since that first kiss, I found love, now we're going steady.

Somewhere in high school I lost my way,
I found new friends who loved to party.
I even let my girlfriend Trish slip away.
No one could tell me anything, they had no authority.

I lost my self respect and respect from others,
Because I found alcohol and drugs.
I broke the heart of my dear mother.
My friends weren't friends, just wannabe thugs.

While driving around with some guys late at night,
I lost control of the car.
Blue lights flashing, they were already in sight.
I found myself sitting behind bars.

I've lost my taste for the fast lane.
With the help of family and friends,
I have found God again.
I pray that you also do so before you meet your end.
