Votum Pro Victus (Prayer for the Living)

I wanted to write something for you...
to allow golden streams of adoration
to flow through these fingers
that delight in the feel of
you
underneath them.
Textures of satin and sandpaper
inspire them to swim along
your aching
everything,
to soothe your painful
any thing,
to be reaching for you
all the time.

I wanted to sing something for you...
to leak sepia flavored sonnets of longing
into the dreams that clasp you at night.
A liquid sunshine that is
lilting it's way through
your pool of ethereal nocturnal
landscapes
rains from my lips
as raw honey,
and the ardorous serenata
would be entirely flavored by
you.

I wanted to wish something for you...
to let the darkness that has absorbed you
reflect a light that should no longer be contained.
A wondrous display
of every star in the sky
shining all at once...
for a heart that has been
eviscerated by life itself,
only to be rebuilt by the hands of faith.
For you, my love,
I whisper this
votum pro victus...
this prayer for the living,
as I watch the light shatter
the cold world around you.

I am running out of words to describe your words. So I won't even try.
