The U.S
The doctor calls to my parents and hands me over,
The work is done and I am out of the world of closure.
My mom looks me straight in the eyes and says, “I will never leave you;
I will never let you go; I will be there for you too.”
The months pass by, and trouble blows by.
It comes to my mother and makes my father fly.
Then a decision must be made for she has to go.
“Do I keep him, or do I go? Do I leave him or just let him go?”
The choice she makes will regret her still,
She fore closes the deal and waits until
She kisses my head and gives me away,
She lets me go, while I see her stay.
My papers are turned in and I am waiting, waiting;
Waiting for some closure, waiting, waiting, and waiting.
The days pass on, and I am still wandering,
“Will I ever have a new family, will I still be pondering?”
But then, out of thin air it came!
The chance of a life time, the chance of fame!
I’m off to a world that I have never known!
With pop culture and a cingular phone!
I get up in the car, ready to head to the plane!
I stare out into space, thinking I’m insane!
I get to the airport and begin to climb in the plane,
I walk up and up, thinking that this is a game!
Faster, faster, we rise to the air.
Like nothing I could ever see or compare!
But suddenly we stop, the doors open and we get out.
I’m getting closer and closer, without even a pout.
I waddle on the floor, looking at the miraculous glow
Of the reflection I see that I could never know.
A group of people come closer and closer
My eyes start to water and I begin to lose my composure.
I begin to cry, unknowing the truth.
That these people are in fact my very own cheering booth.
They scream, they cheer, and laughing goes all around.
I shout and scream with this new joy I have found.
So the truth that’s been told here in my life’s tale
Is in fact the story that made my life sail!
I’ve seen the world from both sides of the oceans
I can tell for sure my life is full of motions.
From the highs to the lows, I can truly see
That my special place is in my own history.
I have come to this world created a new.
Younger than all, but stronger then all but few.
I can truly see why millions of people can call this home,
From football fields, to baseball games up in a dome.
This country has shown me that life itself exists
And that people all around you can be in the amiss.
And even if there is a time of sorrow or doubt
You should never stop believing in yourself or even pout.
My family has given me this chance, right here in this state.
Right here in my own home that I call, the United States.

I liked the story and meaning
but I wasn't big on the poem itself
I think it would have been better in Free verse if you know how to write in free verse
I don't :P, But I think it would be really good
anyways good poem :)
Very, very well written Nick McQ. This is one for the records. I rated it 4 stars.
