18th B- Day
As I look in the sky
I see the light coming down
I now know the truth
I knew it all along.
A woman lies dead in the middle of the street
I could tell right away who she was.
I run to her aid
Trying to revive her lost soul,
But the deed is done,
God has taken her away.
I crouch abover her
With feeling of sorry like no other.
The hatred fills inside me.
For it is my 18th birthday
And it was suppossed to be a surprise.
For I was to return to my birth place
Since of the year I had ventured into this world.
I had never truely met her
For I am an alien
To the United States
And a true citizen
To the Republic of Korea.
I was left as an infant
Ready to fend for myself
But was taken in
and adopted by a spouse.
I promised myself
deep down within
That I would return
To avenge my sin
I tried to find
The father my birth
The true man
Who left my mother in the dust
I searched for years and years
With no prevail
But I could not give up
I could not give up.
I held her hand
As she was put to the coffen.
Holding back my sorrow;
For it died with her.
She was lowered into the darkness
Of the night.
unable to speak
A word of goodbye.
And I look in the sky
I see the light coming down
I now know the truth
I knew it all along.
