about death and other stories

death is quite popular
amongst us
today
it lies in the smell of autumn
in the shop around the corner
in the statue of the man
with dusty shoulders.

death sits next to people
on benches, in coffee shops.
it just stays there
and listens.

sometimes death takes people
by the hand. they hardly notice.
sometimes it just touches
their arms.
that makes them feel alive.
