growing up in the south
a silent explanation between lovers
a look that describes what caused them trouble
there was theft, lies, and times with others
it took no time for them to discover
first they wed, then hit bed,now newlyweds
they want to shed the label, brought to them by fables
you must live as man and wife, they heard that all their life
all the fighting, and the lying, caused the crying, now the love is dying
i was trying, the man thought, and was my fault first time we fought
it was her, twas your word, but you sure got what you deserve
cause it was him,a second man, that started all the thoughts that i cant stand
ill be damned, was her retort,i knew this love would be short
i thought it all when we would court, you were the cheating sort
i should have never, shared myself,i should have went on to someone else
but i chose you,and now you do,tell my all that we are though
i feel the same, and feel no shame, and am growing tired of this game
so both they go,and now they know,it was the bible, this is so
that wrecked their life, made them man and wife, and now they sleep alone tonight
