What is your least favorite known poem (that most of us will know) and or poet... Is there a poet who everybody likes and you really hate?
robert frost. i don't hate him, but his work gets dull after a while
Never really liked William Blake. Thought he was a little to crisp and a little too nationalistic. Who could possibly feel nationalistic towards England? Wretched country, miserable weather and ill-mannered people. Too much Whitman can also be straining. He cannot make up his mind if he wants to be a poet or a philosopher and ends up chasing style over message. Perhaps our schooling is not what his was, given that public education s probably the second worst thing one could do with one's youth.
i'd have to say i can't stand E. E. Cummings. "not even the rain has such small hands" lame. my two year old nephew has said better stuff than that.
I don't really like Emily Dickinson. Not because she was a bad poet, but something about her style just bores me to tears.
I agree. She was a woman poet that got the attention because of it. she not bad. just not good.
I have to retract the first statement. i recited e. e. cummings for the poetry out loud contest at schoool and they said i did a good job and i enjoyed it.
