Some people write about what they see. An external movement makes a poetic impetus. Some people write about what they feel and relate it to what they see. It begins internally. Where does your inspiration start?

Ahh the spellbinding question . . . . . Where is the BEST inspiration born, my perseption is that is a question that we must not only ask ourselves but ask ourselves constantly for different conflicts internal or external can have enormous effects on our creative abilities so ask yourself each time you touch quill to parchment is this a product of a internal or external conflict and in the end evaluate which conflict works better with your physche. For me... it seems that external events create an internal imbalance and I'm not sure how to express it, or deal with it, or understand it. When I write a poem I'm usually experiencing strong emotions or confused about something that has happened.... so I sculpt with words what is there. I suppose internal conflict is my muse.

stupid muse makes Homer something something :)

When reading an article about haiku techniques, I came across this sentence which I believe is very true: " if the author's mind/heart was correctly aligned in the ''proper'' attitude, while experiencing a so-called ''haiku-moment'', one merely had to report on the experience to have a very good haiku". And I guess this applies to all poetry-writing. At least, it does with me. Usually when I see, hear or read something that strikes me I begin to ponder and think about it and after a while a poem begins to form in my mind. But, the stronger I feel about the subject I am writing about, the better the poem I write.
